This page is a forum for the elders of SFC to communicate regularly with our participants about important developments in the life of our church and about the progress of our mission “…to reach the Stapleton Community and the surrounding communities and to provide an atmosphere in which they can become fully devoted followers of Christ.”  We will update this information monthly to give you an ongoing picture of our development as a church family and of fulfilling our vision of becoming an authentic community of followers of Christ that has maximum impact on the surrounding community for Christ.

Headlines from the most recent Elders’ meeting on April 20th, 2010:

CLOSE TO CLOSING!

The long-anticipated closing on the unanimously-approved purchase of Hangar 61 is May 10! Construction on the interior is expected to begin this summer, hopefully putting SFC in our new home soon after the beginning of the new year. Thanks to all who participated in this process! Please join us in praising God and praying for a smooth transition. Most of all, pray that SFC will not become “about the building,” but will continue to be “about the mission.” While securing a permanent home for SFC is important, a building is only a tool to help us expand and deepen our impact for good in the community. As Pastor Dean has reminded us all, the church is still a “who”, not a what, when, or where. No matter where we meet, our mission and our focus as a body of believers is always the same: to advance the Kingdom of God by building REAL relationships and serving people in RELEVANT ways.

BEAUTIFUL FEET

This July, Stapleton Fellowship Church is offering two simultaneous missions trips to Guadalajara, Mexico, and Czech Republic, as well as an outreach opportunity right here in Northeast Denver. Please prayerfully consider how you and your family can be a part of SFC’s “Summer of Love” campaign whether it’s through serving at home, prayerfully and/or financially supporting others, or joining the teams traveling abroad.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’ --Romans 10:14-15

GOING GANGBUSTERS

Way to go, church! We’re keeping our eyes on the true prize, and our outreach is going gangbusters, thanks to your faithful hearts and generous hands. Here are a few recent, positive items of note that The Elders would like to share:

  • Easter Sunday at SFC brought in over 300 worshippers from the community. It was a time of praise and celebration as we reflected on the “status change” we can experience with new life in Christ because of His resurrection. Several people were led to pray the prayer of Salvation! Newcomers at Easter were warmly welcomed, and 14 new families attended the New Friends’ Lunch on April 18.
  • A baptism ceremony will be held during the Worship gathering on Sunday, May 16. If you are ready to make a profession of your faith through this important, symbolic act, or if you have questions about it, please contact Pastor Dean.
  • Spurred by the One Month To Live campaign, we now have 9 Life Groups meeting throughout the week for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. Several groups are reaching out together to help international refugees start a new life in Denver, through a partnership program with Lutheran Family Services of Colorado.
  • SFC is hosting a Creative Arts Camp this July for the children of Stapleton. Let Dana Logue know if you want to help make this fun, 3-day event a super success for the little ones!
  • The families of SFC continue to literally serve the less fortunate of Denver through regular dinner shifts at the downtown Denver Rescue Mission and The Crossing. We're also serving local schools and “adopting” refugee families. Get in touch with Jim Logue if you are interested in “loving your neighbor” in practical ways through the SFC Street Team.
We praise God for His continued blessing of SFC’s ministry, and humbly thank Him for the opportunity our church has to touch lives for His glory.

Thanks for reading, and check in again next month.
